Anyone know if the river crossing on the approach to Street and Nye is frozen over? If not is there a location to cross safely?

Marc

Probably not. Many of the smaller streams and rivers up here have open water right now.

Generally, the crossing there isn't too difficult. I'd be wary if there had been warm temperatures in the days preceding your hike, though, so pay attention to the weather reports... :)

The Bouquet on the way to Dix at the Lean-to was open and running when we hiked on Saturday (2/4/12). We had to rock hop (well, ice covered rock hop) across until one spot where we were forced to walk on some of the thicker ice that remained.

Indian Pass brook runs via a much colder valley, I would think crossing will not be a problem as all ice bridges are very solid (quite thick) even though there are gaps where one can see the water running. Careful foot placing and wearing snowshoes to even the weight should make it safe. In any case the water is not deep and the parking lot not very far!
