HuiYeng and I were looking to hike something on Saturday. We were leaning towards the Wildcats until we heard that Jen was looking for something to do. The thought was to do something fairly short so we didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn and we could finish before dark. We decided on Tecumseh.

We met Jen at the trailhead at a reasonable hour. This would be a good opportunity to try new gear since it’s a short hike. I decided to try my new boots. So, we geared up and hit the trail. It was considerably colder than we had all expected. I neglected to put hand and toe warmers in because I thought it was going to be warmer. Jen took the lead and steadily made the ascent. The trail was well broken thanks to a group of people ahead of us and some snowboarders. We ran into a very perky 15 year old Siberian Husky on the way up. She was very well behaved and was talking to her owner to prod him along. She did pose for a photo op though.

We continued up the trail until we reached the split where you can go left or right to get to the summit. It was partly cloudy, a bit windy and quite cold at this point so we decided to add a few layers before hitting the summit. What happened to the upper teens that were predicted for today???? Jen continued leading the way to the summit. On a clear day, there is a good view of the Tripyramids. Unfortunately, it was cloudy so we only caught brief glimpses of them.

So, while Jen didn’t say anything about Tecumseh being her final all season NH48, I remembered that it was her final peak. HuiYeng brought Jen one of her WM 48 t-shirts and an AMC 4000 footer patch. We had a brief celebration of Jen’s finish before heading back down.

We were all hungry so we tried to move as quickly as possible. My hands were getting cold and I only briefly succeeded in warming them. Jen and HuiYeng were way ahead of me and by the time I reached them, my hands were completely numb. Jen leant me her super warm mittens and gave me some handwarmers. It took a while but they warmed up. On we went to the viewpoint that looks down the ski trails - it sure would have been much quicker to get down on skis. We were getting really hungry so we didn’t stay long…the car was the destination and the key to getting us to the Mad River Inn. It didn’t take long to get back to the car from the viewpoint and we were soon on our way for food and warm beverages. Another great day of hiking with friends and congratulations Jen on finishing the list that you weren’t working on :D

It was really good to hike with you again. I know you're not a list person, just enjoying a nice walk in the woods with friends, and I am thrill that we have the chance to share this beautiful day with you. Can't wait for you to show me some good time on the ice! Some real fun huh!

Here are some of my pictures from the hike, the Husky is gorgeous.

I've been close for months now but I won't be finishing this weekend. All I have to do is think about doing Jefferson and the weather turns to crap

Yeah!! Congrats!!

Congrats Jen....on your non-list finish!!! :D

Glad the girls could join you for a nice hike to finish!

I think I am now officially the only one that hasn't completed the list out of the barnes field, dirtbag, scumbag, beer swillin, foul mouth hiking croooo. LOL:D

oh, c'mon now, stop with all the flattery.....

Nice TR Kim and big congrats to Jen! Why such a stealth move on your finish Jen? Looks like we'll have to keep that celebration in mind for next time everybody gets together!;) Loved the excellent winter pics and the shots of the huskie! We had a purebred that lived to one month shy of 18 and was sable colored(kind of cinamon looking) and a huskie shepard cross that made it to 12. Both were loads of fun out in the snow!

Super Hugs to Jen for finishing in style!

That summit photo is well worthy of framing in and hang on the dining room wall!

Hey Gig maybe we can start a club.
I haven't finished any list yet and I started nearly three decades before you
I'm cool with all that other stuff though.

Jen what's up with the list bagging
I thought you were a purist who hiked for all the right reasons

Thanks everyone and many thanks to my fearless escorts/photographer/reporter. We have a summit photo so big it's taking up extra space....

I have a good feeling about Kim being able to knock off the Big J sometime soon. Note this is J not Jay....

Can't wait for you to show me some good time on the ice! Some real fun huh!

We should do this soon. I did scope out the ice at Rumney on my leisurely drive over. That would be good or I have friend in VT w/her very own ice stash and BC skiing on her property. She's been dying to have people over.

The Adams summit was nice, just about as cold as Tecumseh too....and ya know we had that awesome huge male Husky there too with the skiers at Pikers Peak. Alot like the one Dave Bear had. I enjoyed scoping out the route and leading the rope the most there though. I have an awesome pic that Woody gave me of me sitting above the campground doing my planning. Good Times!!!

And remember it's good to be the holdout!!! You and Pa can stand together, beer in hand, patchless and proud:cool:

It sort of came about last minute DB. I configured my whole weekend on the fly. I e-mailed a couple people that I thought might be available and game after treatment on Friday. Decided I needed to do something. I wasn't sure if I would have the steam for it not, but Tecumseh was one of the few that might be "right sized". By 9pm I had changed my mind and was going to try to meet Marc Howes at the Tav after they got done with Mt Ellen. I certainly wasn't doing a 6am start. By 10pm I was in bed. Then Kim called and talked me back into the attempt saying we could take all day if needed. So I reversed plans again and made it a go. It happened to be number 48 but I never brought it up until Hui Yeng asked on the summit if I had been there before.

Jen what's up with the list bagging

Was I impure??? I guess I'm just a T-Shirt whore :p Looks good on me though!!!:D
