Trails: East Pond from Kancamagus Highway, Mt. Tecumseh from Tripoli Road, plus short 0.4-mile walk on Tripoli Road between trailheads.

Miles: 17
Time: 9 hours
No. of people seen on trail: East Pond Trail, 5 (all between East Pond and Tripoli Road trailhead); Mt. Tecumseh Trail, 15.

Conditions:
East Pond Trail: A few muddy spots in the rocky, rooty section after the Pine Brook crossing, but generally in magnificent shape.
Mt. Tecumseh Trail: More frequent mud than East Pond Trail, but nothing, really, to notice. Steep rocky pitches generally dry, but watch out for rocks that are slippery with moss.
All stream crossings rock-hoppable or log-walkable. No blowdowns.

Bugs: Pretty much zero -- just a few mosquitoes. Some black flies on Tripoli Road.

Special equipment: Ankle gaiters kept trail duff out of my socks. Bring bug juice, just in case.

Tuckerman's notes for dogs:

Good water on East Pond Trail.

No water after stream at Mt. Tecumseh trailhead to Tecumseh summit, so tell your master to carry extra.

Some rock scrambles on upper part of Mt. Tecumseh Trail but nothing nasty or scary. Yay!

Not enough mud for my taste, but wading in East Pond might've made up for it.

Lots of frogs (are they the weirdest animals or what)?

Lots of sticks.

Long day and I'm beat.

***.* Three and a half sniffs (out of four). T-Dog says check it out.
