Trail Conditions: Livermore Trail well groomed from Tripoli Road to until it veers left from the groomed system. After that, it was packed out and bare-bootable to the North Slide. The slide had a few inches of soft snow above a hard pack with maybe 3 very small patches of ice on the way up. After North Peak, there snow was mostly post holed and partly packed out. After Middle, we followed deep post holes through unbroken snow, essentially feeling like we were breaking the trail. After descending the South Slide, we followed the footsteps which led us on a crazy bushwhack - watch for that. After we descended the slide, the trail is unbroken and the footsteps were sometimes 3 feet deep. Since it was warm and sunny, the snow was soakin' and starting to become a nuisance!

Special Equipment: Used micros to ascend the slide, but would recommend crampons (had them, but I didn't need to put them on), and snowshoes were definitely required.

Comments: It was an awesome warm sunny late winter day. Views from both slides made this Tripyramids hike very much a favorite. Although its warm, the north slide doesn't get the direct sun, so watch for the glazing if it gets cold at night, and dealing with the mess after south slide reminds me of how tiring and potentially risky spring hiking can be in melting conditions. Saw one person on the summit of North peak, and a couple hiking out on Livermore Road.
