Date of Hike: 03/21/09
Trail Conditions:
Started out hard packet @ 9 AM / 12 degrees and as the day moved on and the sun increased in the sky the trail became loose and mushy - much like a snowcone. The shaded parts of the trail remained at 20 degrees which kept the snow packeted, but the sunny parts were in the 40 - 45 degree range. Willey range Trail heavily postholed, but the A-Z & Avalon were holding up great.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes were carried but not needed - some were using crampons, but we used micro-spikes the entire day
Comments: Greeat day in the outdoors - hope to find a few VFTT in our trip, but maybe next time. Talked with many and the tip about the outlook at Willey was appreciated.
