Changed plans overnight as to what to hike Thursday. Waited for roads to warm up and clear before leaving Manchester after Wednesday night's heavy rains and slight snow. Given the windy forecast, decided the prudent call would be the Tripyramids from Waterville Valley. Set off on Livermore Road, a nice, easy walk on just slightly snow covered terrain. Water and wind were roaring along the route.
This route is pretty protected for the most part. Hit Scaur Ridge Trail by late morning and snow increased from a couple of inches at the bottom to half a foot or snow up on the ridge. Snow shoes definitely not needed- nor microspikes due to soft, sticky snow. Some underlying ice under the snow covered rocks leading up to N. Tripyramid but nothing difficult. On to Middle TRIP, an easy .8 away and then a 180 to get out.
Wind and snow were a little tiring but this was a good choice in the conditions.
