Trails: Pine Bend Brook, Scaur Ridge, Kate Sleeper, Rollins, Passaconway Cutoff, Oliverian Brook, Rt 112
Trail conditions: Everything was in good shape with no major blowdowns or mud. Tons of black flies and mosquitos.
Equipment: Lots of bug spray or bug net. Extra water for the hike over the Tripyramids and Kate Sleeper.
Comments: I have never been on the Kate Sleeper or have done these peaks as a loop. It was a great overnight hike and the tent sites at the Kate Sleeper/Downes Brook junction are great. I was in awe of the blowdowns on the Kate Sleeper. I cannot imagine the amount of time it took to clear that trail. I am guessing the damage is from Irene. I was told that the tent sites are much smaller now because of the blowdowns. We were one of two groups and both sites were full. The 3 mile road walk was not a highlight of the trip, but I was with my dog and didn't expect a ride.
