Date of Hike: Saturday, 1/5/08
Trail Conditions: 8 to 10 inches of UNTOUCHED snow at the trailhead. Up to 3 foot drifts on the steeper portion of the Notch Trail. Conditions varied from powder, to packe, to drifted to ice. As much as 4 feet drifted at the summit of Twin.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - essential. I don't think I would have been able to make it without a pair of mountain shoes like my MSR Lighning Ascents.
Comments: Temperatures were in the 30's. Sunshine part of the way. Conditions will be MUCH different after the warm weather this week. For a complete report and pictures check http://www.catskillhiker.com/hikes.shtml
