Via herd paths, North Twin Trail, North Twin Spur, Twinway, Frost Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail, Gale River Trail, Gale River Road and Beaver Brook XC Ski Trails.

Snowshoes car to car today and they were definitely needed. Snowing at a good clip when we left the end of Little River Rd, with 3-4" of fresh powder down low. Depths increased to 6-8" up high on North Twin Trail, with a few drifts almost knee deep up to the summit, and a few knee deep ones between North and South Twin - in many places the tracks from this weekend were completely obscured due to drifting. The sun kept trying to poke through, but both summits stayed in the clouds with a good 25-30mph breeze on South Twin. Fun descent from South Twin to the hut, but unfortunately the snow was too deep to butt-slide down. Frost Trail easy to follow up Galehead, with the best view of the day from the outlook. Easy cruise out Gale River Trail all the way to Beaver Brook - only 2-3" new snow on the lower trail and ski trails though, so a bit bony but snowshoes still worked fine.

Hannah had a good day - a bit breezy for her on South Twin with snow up to the bottom of her chest in places, but fortunately she stayed in our tracks most of the day and had few issues with the light fluffy snow.

A HUGE thank you to Tim C for a great hike. We didn't see a soul all day - truly a fantastic day of real winter hiking :)
