Lots of snow out there. Soft, beautiful powder. The lower portion will have formed a crust by morning, but there is only powder higher up.
I ran into Mike P on the lower portion of the trail and we floundered around for more than three hours breaking out part of the trail and several false leads. Unable to navigate any further, we had turned back, when a skier appeared who looked like he knew what he was doing. I followed him and several others to tree line. The tracked route is not on the trail higher up and makes an exciting southerly passage around a buttress just before emerging from the trees.
By the time I came down, the route was tracked by four skiers, two snowshoers, and one interesting fellow who apparently expected ice and left his snowshoes behind.
