Trail Conditions: Trail broken out, good track.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes and poles.
Comments: Avalon trail has been well used. A-Z Trail broken out to the col and beyond. We followed it down to the bottom of the ridge where the old snomo trail diverges left. It appears that A-Z must be broken all the way to Zealand. A nice alternative to the long road walk.
Lots of unconsolidated snow on West Field, chest deep toward the top. The five of us made a good (but somewhat meandering) track to the summit. Over three hours for the last 1/2 mile.
It’ll never be any easier to bag this one than right now.
