Sorry for the late report...just didn't have time to post when we got back from NH !!
Drove 4.5 hours from Ludlow, MA and arrived at the Nineteen Mile Brook Trailhead at about 1pm. Ground was dry and the goin' was pretty easy.
We visited the Hut and had our lunch while enjoying some conversation with the "Hut Meister", who - as usual - was friendly and helpful.
Although steep, the jaunt up to the top was short - we were there in "no time". It's a good thing we knew to look for the little "spur trail that leads to the true peak" because it would easy to think that - by virtue of getting to the AWESOME "overlook" - you've hit the top. NO - the TRUE peak is actually in the woods. And some kind folk built the smallest cairn (see photos) I've ever seen to mark the top.
Back the same way - less the stop at the Hut - and we arrived at the car at 6pm. Another 5 minutes and we would have needed our headlamps, but our timing was perfect.
