Climbing Slide on Wright I am planning on climbing the Slide on Wright (via Wright brook) this weekend (first attempt). Is there a source to check avalanche conditions for the area?

I'm going to be go my first winter ascent of Washington this weekend. I know that googles are a must, are there some specific to mountaineering or will any old alpine ski googles do?

Trip Report I have posted a trip report in the trip report section. But, to make a long story short, we climbed the wrong slide, but still had a blast. Snow conditions were poor, as there isn't much snow on the slide yet. It will be a much better climb later in the winter season. -Jeff

The three of us decided to take the True North Slide (Ribbon Slide) up the left side of the face of Gothics. There will be four us (hopefully). We'll be going up with 10-point crampons and mountaineering axes. We will also bring rope and snow anchors, just in case there a section where we feel uncomfortable. I'll post a trip report next week.

I’ve been seriously thinking of climbing Gothics this weekend via the Ribbon Slide. How technical is this route? Are mountaineering axes required? Roped belay?

Backpacking. So there is a camping area around Butlet Lodge? Are there camping fees?

I'm planning a first time trip to Mt. Mansfield this weekend. Are there any campsites on the mountain? I understand that many people use Underhill State Park, but the website says it's closed this time of year.
