    Morgan/Percival Loop 10/25/09

Nice report, D&M! I was up on my "fall getaway" last weekend as well and was wondering if I'd run into you, but it looks like we were on opposite sides of the Whites this year.

New NH Trail - Scarboro Ridge

Had a chance to check out some of this trail yesterday. Three of us started at the south end, went up and over Prospect Mtn., and turned around a short ways after the unmarked section. Our favorite views were east into Maine, but there were also good outlooks to the south and west over this...

    Bonding 8/1/09

Arrested Development, through Steve Holt, provided us with some great sayings for staying motivated on the trail. "There's no 'I' in 'win'!" "Don't ask 'can I?,' ask 'I can!'" "You can control your bladder when you're dead!" Great report and congrats on the 48!

The Ogunquit (ME) Museum of American Art's primary exhibit is currently a room full of paintings of White Mountain scenes. It'll be up until the end of October. The museum is generally open 10-5 (1-5 on Sundays)--for more info, try its website. It's a couple of miles off of the main drag in...

    hiking the 48 ???

Mohammed Ellozy's site, http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/, has great information about hiking the 48 including plenty of stuff on multi-peak hikes. And if you have any questions about the content, Mohammed posts here on VFTT!

6/8/09 - conditions in King Ravine?

I was a little ways to the west, in Castle Ravine, yesterday. Just one snowfield near the trail, roughly a 10-foot square and not too deep. I'd say you should be all set next weekend. For what it's worth, there weren't any bugs, but of course that can change in a hurry!

    Kinsman Pond Trail 5/24

The KPT is very wet, but even when the trail runs in common with a stream bed, it is nearly always possible to stay dry by rock-hopping. The rocks were wet and slippery in today's rain but should dry soon. One large blowdown about halfway up with a fast-developing herd path on its left. I...

    Traffic Note - 93 south (Lincoln/Thornton), route 2 Gorham <--> Gilead

I was stopped by the border patrol today. Waited in line for 3-4 minutes and was immediately sent on my way after assuring the officer that I and my passenger were U.S. citizens. Creepy, but not a day-changer. Assuming that the checkpoint is going to exist somewhere, does anybody know why...

    Barkleys here again...

Agreed, good luck to everybody competing! If you're not familiar with the Barkley, I highly recommend reading up on it even if you're not a runner. Matt Mahoney has probably the best site on the race (check out the stories from past years) and the Washington Post did a feature back in 2007...

    Friends and faces.

Taking a picture of yourself and two others is tough! This was about the 4th try and we were pretty frustrated. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/pMzL6nOMbfzk9aQj4CjWZg?feat=directlink The matching outfits were not planned...I promise...

    Tecumseh from ski area 3/29

Date of Hike: 03/29/09 Trail Conditions: A few rocks poking through down low, but still plenty of snow, especially higher up. Trail is hard-packed and looked bare-bootable with minimal impact. When the Sosman and Mt. Tecumseh trails both head for the summit, the Mt. Tecumseh trail is...

Trailwork Day on Mt. Cube before December

I agree with Jason, it was a great day in the woods. It was my first time doing trailwork, I think I'll look at trails quite a bit differently now.
