I finished the ADK W46 on Hough back in March. My dog Rev finished her regular ADK 46 back last month when we climbed Basin and Haystack on December 1st. I'm now going to peck away at the ADK 100 highest (I like bushwhacking). I'm also keeping tabs on the ADK 4 season 46.
I'm also the...
Happy New Year Everyone!
I took advantage of the holiday today by hiking the Tongue Range on Lake George from Fifth Peak down to First Peak and back. Not high peaks, but a great workout and great views none the less.
Blue skies stayed to the north and clouds came in to the south. The pictures...
I took my dog Rev up HaBa on Sunday to finish her 46. We had been at 44 for awhile and I decided it was time.
We got on the trail from the Garden at 6:23... 1st ones out. 5 cars were in the parking lot from overnight stays. Fast easy hiking to the soothing Shorey Shortcut (2.5 hrs). We bogged...
Sounds like a well fought bushwhack. Nice TR. I saw a cairn in Indian Pass marking what appeared to be a herd path headed for Wallface, but I have yet to get back to check it out.
Nice day today for a bushwhack from Palmer Pond on Blue Ridge Road to Big Marsh Pond and Marsh Pond Mountain in the Dix Mountain Wilderness Area. I've picked away at most of the lesser peaks in the DMWA. They are all spectacular.
I found the best viewpoint was from the southern tip of the...
This trip turned out to be one of the most perfect trips ever. Leesa and I arrived on Thursday night and we did a couple days of hiking in so-so weather before having the perfect day to head for Katahdin on Sunday.
We both went in to Chimney Pond via the Chimney Pond Trail. Then I went up the...
The bump labeled on the topo map as 809 meters is awesome. It has been dubbed the "igloo". You were probably there. Lots of open rock on many of the nearby lower summits. Great place.
Great TR and photos. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip! I'm headed there this Thursday hoping to do all the same peaks you just did. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good weather.
BTW - Did you see any moose?
Friday was just a spectacular weather day. I took advantage of the weather to climb Pico and Killington from Route 4. I parked at the trailhead just west of Shelburne Pass.
Trail conditions were great. I didn't see any of the porcupines that have supposedly taken over Pico Peak. Fortunately...
My wife, Leesa, and I took advantage of the perfect weather on Saturday to do a loop hike of the lower Great Range (minus LWJ). We started at the Garden and went to Johns Brook Lodge, then up the Orebed Trail. We hit Saddleback first, then took a side trip to Pyramid where we stopped to have...
