I'm not sure if Ralph still uses that domain. Try catskillhiker.net instead.

    best donuts in the Adirondacks?

Best doughnuts in the Adirondacks hands down are at the laundromat in Tupper Lake. No joke. I would scarf down a maple-frosted doughnut every time I was there doing my laundry.

    Running Along Lucifer's Walkway

The nettles aren't terrible yet. Only shin high or so. Can't wait till we're waist deep in them!!

    Running Along Lucifer's Walkway

Congrats, again, Tyler! It was great to finally meet you after months of planning. You definitely trained hard for this and it paid off! A legend is born!! Here are a few helpful hints if you all want to keep up with Tyler, the Slayer of Satan: 1) Don't overeat the day before 2) Don't eat...

Can’t think of a good title, so I’ll just call it “Six Peaks on the Hot Weekend”

Awesome! Congrats on a successful weekend! I felt bad about canceling our plans in the Catskills but when I tried going on a local trail run on Saturday, I made it about a mile in when the knee and foot pain struck.

    Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail

I agree with Jay. The S-BM sort of runs along the edge of Harriman while the R-D runs right through the heart of it. The R-D is chock full of views. Southbound is nice because you've got these bald, glacier-scraped hills towards the end which are nice but if you do it Northbound, you inch...

    Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail

I've done the S-BM in a day as well as the Ramapo-Dunderberg (twice). Easy, rolling hills with no more than 400 or so feet of sustained elevation gain at a time. If you're used to hiking in the Catskills or Adirondacks, Harriman is a breeze. I just did the R-D last weekend and there was a...

IMPORTANT... Anyone on the Blackhead Range this weekend?

Was there on the 6th with a party of 13. So the trail is broken out all across the range into Big Hollow via the lean-to.

    N.J. climbers explore lesser-known mountains, hard-to-reach peaks

Oh yeah, definitely true, especially for the southern Highlands. Dense forest and a true prickerbush hell. A bushwhacker's worst nightmare!

    N.J. climbers explore lesser-known mountains, hard-to-reach peaks

Haha, that is true. Though, I've never heard of people going missing. The Ramapough Indians have always been very gracious whenever I've run into them.

    N.J. climbers explore lesser-known mountains, hard-to-reach peaks

Yeah, the 200 foot col requirement was pretty arbitrary. I came up with the idea two years ago to create a peakbagging list of 1,000 footers in NJ and then, being a computer science student, I decided to create the website.

    200 feet of interpolated prominence.

    N.J. climbers explore lesser-known mountains, hard-to-reach peaks

Total elevation snobbery! Either way, vertical ascent from trailhead to summit can be pretty close between the 4,000+ foot eastern molehills and the 14,000+ foot western behemoths.

    N.J. climbers explore lesser-known mountains, hard-to-reach peaks

Too bad you didn't. You coulda also bagged all of Florida's "high peaks".

They also misspelled "Pochuck Mountain". It's not Pochunk.
