    First trip to Adirondacks

I picked up the National Geographic Adirondack map. I like the incremental trail distances and the important features stand out a little better. I've pretty much settled on starting at Upper Works and heading in to the Flowed Lands. From there I'm making a counterclockwise loop starting...

    First trip to Adirondacks

Thanks for the info. I was looking over some of the suggested routes on the map I have from the Adirondack Trails High Peaks Region book. Are there any better maps available than this one? I'm used to the maps in the White Mountain guidebooks which have more detail and color to get a better...

    First trip to Adirondacks

I'm heading out to the Adirondacks for the first time mid August. Most of the hiking I've done in the past has been in ME/NH/VT and I'd like to see something new. I plan on going for about 4 days with a 3 day/2 night trip and maybe a shorter dayhike to start or end the trip. I'm looking for...

Enjoyed a 6pack over the long weekend...

Wish I knew you were headed up that way. I did Chain of Ponds Snow and some of the 4K's in the area again over the weekend. I was a little chicken to do the few other 6pack peaks I still need like Boundary and Whitecap by myself. Congrats on getting them all by yourself in one long weekend.

Flume Slide to Flume and Liberty - 8/5/07

We did go down the Flume slide with a couple detours around the steep parts. It was really no problem especially considering how dry the trail was.

Hey I passed your group on Flume summit. Chester is still upset he didn't get the sandwich.

    Vasque Breeze GTX - Comments?

I've had a similar experience with my pair. They are about the lightest, most comfortable shoes I've used but the problems are starting to outweigh the good points. I've noticed that the soles tend to slip a lot, they aren't very waterproof and the soles are slightly pealing away. Every pair...

    North Isolation location

So it is just off the trail. I'll stomp around in the area for a while and call it good. Thanks

    North Isolation location

Which bump is the actual north isolation peak? I can't seem to point it out exactly on the map. I hear it is not far off the trail. Is there a canister there too?

Presi Traverse on The 4th of July!

As far as I know it's off. Ross had something come up. I'm not sure if the rest of the group is still going or not.

    Baldface/Royce Range traverse 6/16/07

Hey Ron thanks for putting the trip together. The day ended up being a little too long and hot for Chester. Actually the heat was getting to me a little too. I think he's just losing his winter coat now and seemed unusually warm. After leaving South Bald face we went ahead across N. Baldface...

I had a great time hooking up with you guys for the day. Let's do it again sometime. Hopefully I can work it out so I can camp out and enjoy the festivities next time. Jeff

The Maine-side of the Whites - Fly Fishing

I happened to be at the Emerald pool yesterday. Jamie it reminds me of Indian's Last Leap on the Mousam. I'll probably be up fishing in the area that weekend but I much prefer floating the Andro compared to fishing the Wild.
