    Albany area hike

I will be in Albany this weekend, and have about 3 - 4 hours to kill on Sunday morning. I'm totally unfamiliar with the area, other than the roads to the capitol. Are then any good hikes around that would take 3 to 4 hours including driving time? Thanks for any help. Keith

    Full up

While camping at Sylight Brook before doing Allen this past weekend, the question came up - What would you do if all available tent sites at the area you were going to camp in were all full, with no spots available around, and nothing else established in the area? Luckily, it has not happened...

    New boots

OK, I'm impulsive, and this is after the fact. I did some research into boots, but rather than ask you guys for more advice, I went ahead and boot a pair of Asolo TPS 520 GTX boots at EMS the other day. Actually, I went in expecting to buy EMS summits or Montrail Torres, but these felt sooo...

    Flowed Lands

Any one know if flowed lands, at least the part from where the Upper Works trail hits it to Marshall Brook, is frozen enough to snowshoe on? We plan on Marshall tommorrow. Thanks, Keith

    Gaiters again

Just used my new gaiters yesterday, and at the end of the day, found that the only place I was wet was UNDER my gaiters, I presume from perspiration that couldn't escape. They were helpful in some of the muddy spots on the trail where water was still running. I wonder if the tradeoff was worth...

    Gaiters question

OK - this may sound dumb, but I've never worn gaiters before. A got a pair from Campmor for Christmas and want to wear them on a trip to Tabletop tommorrow. Question is - there is a shoelace running through two grommets on the opposite sides of the openning at the bottom. What do I do with...
