Full bibs (like the Alpha SV) can get too warm at times for me. I prefer the Theta Lt pants with suspenders also made by Arcteryx. They vent better, feel more comfortable compared to bibs, and are less weight to carry in your pack during ascent.

Winter Kit I used to carry a lot. Now just some chap stick, moleskin (thick & thin) sheets, a few hand warmers, benadryl, a few band aids and pain control (tylenol and/or ibuprofin). I'd say about about 1 pound. Enough to fit in a sandwich baggie.

How much does he weigh? I was thinking he was light enough to carry on your back (in some sort of harness). I understand where your coming from, but some people may get freaked out seeing anything attached to the cables and moving toward them. If its not a busy time attach away. However...

I agree. Although I remember one narrow section on the ridge (just beyond the summit ridge towards half dome) that was kinda narrow. It will provide some excitement if you fear heights. I think I sorta crawled along for 20ft or so.....defintely provided some "pucker factor."

From what I recall, you can take him up. I don't think you can attach runners to the cables because (if I understand your thinking) it would force the people coming down to let go of the cables for a brief moment as they passed you. For most it would be ok but some hold on to them for dear...

WL Tips... Place it on an unoccupied shelf in your basement and leave it there.....or sell it on ebay...then look for a used or older model XGK. I wouldn't want to depend on a WL for emergnency situations....especially melting snow for survival....
