Hiker Rescue 9/4 - Heading down Huntington Ravine Trail

Have you ever heard "Pay them no attention. They're old." (This happened at the top of the Flume Slide Trail about 15 years ago. I must be ancient by now.)

LOST HIKER IN Spaulding mountain area maine.

Finally a story that seems to tell the story. It's a very sad story that would not have had to have much change in order to have her still living and enjoying life.

    Firewarden Trail And Lend-A-Hand Trail

    I would do it counter.

    Firewarden Trail And Lend-A-Hand Trail

I may be confused. Are you asking about a Loop Hike of Mt. Hale? If you were to do the Old Firewarden Trail to hale, then down Lend a hand to the hut, you'd then have to go agreat long distance over Zealand and the Twins to com back out on the Haystack Road. Is that your intention?

    Firewarden Trail And Lend-A-Hand Trail

I think three different trails are listed here. The Firewardens Trail would not be part of a loop (unless you are like Tim). Other than that, I have done it counterclockwise, knowing that the two ends are not at the same location (but are off the same road).

Sentinel and the Niagara Fallses, 13 Aug. 16

We've dubbed OJI as "High Five" - what do you think? Also, along the Sentinel Trail, more than mid-way, there was a huge rock of shell fossils, the likes of which I have never seen before. Great trips, people, but the weather could have been dryer for packing up.

Flume Slide Trail Helicopter Rescue this weekend

My thoughts. Exactly. Last weekend on Hi Cannon Trail we came across a family at the junction with Kinsman Ridge Trail. A girl of about 9 was hiking in white strap sandals, the kind my granddaughters wear for dressing up. Not Keen. She did it, so what can I say except I hope she made it down...

Flume Slide Trail Helicopter Rescue this weekend

I think you are right about under reported accidents. We saw an ambulance speed away from the Lafayette parking lot with lights on and crossing the highway to head south towards Lincoln. No report anywhere.

Flume Slide Trail Helicopter Rescue this weekend

That's my take. There is no information about their hiking experience, but I would be they had a map and thought, this is a nice loop. Perhaps it was a last minute decision, ie they had hiked Liberty first, saw Flume, and didn't want to return the way they had gone up. I like loops, too. Even...

    My final disposition?

That's a very thoughtful gesture, which I hope won't be needed soon. I had thought of doing something similar when we traveled to Everest Base Camp. I told my family and traveling companions, but didn't make it legal. Have a great trip.

UFOs this Sunday near the northern Presidentials

Northern Lights have been treating those on Washington. Maybe that?

    Firewarden Trail And Lend-A-Hand Trail

There are people who don't skip the first two crossings? I thought that was a "given" these days. Am I mistaken, Tim, that you once met me around Guyot Mtn, having taken a short cut?

    Bushwacking Green Mountain

Does anyone know of a group that would have been on the Tecumseh to Dickey trail on this past Saturday or maybe Sunday? I found something that someone left behind. I assume it was a group, but it might have been an individual.

    Trail Litter

I've been in different areas and the worst offender is absolutely the little tear-off pieces from energy bars. They slip out of hands and either people don't notice or decide not to pick it up. TP continues to be a problem. I was astounded on Sunday to find fresh TP on the Dickey-Tecumseh...

Incredibly odd development in the Geraldine Largay case

I wonder if the family has agreed to let more information out than they initially had for that very reason. "We" need some help with closure, too. Some have said we are being morbid by going over and over this incomplete information, to let her RIP. I think she'd be more likely to RIP (if that...

Incredibly odd development in the Geraldine Largay case

I still find it very odd. Perhaps someday more of her journal will be released. I don't think any amount of information will make this sad event go away any time soon. I know a lot of people the age she was (and am one of them) so I would not be quick to make the assumption that her age had...

Wow, I wonder how the reporter got hold of that information.

    Trail Litter

I wonder if manufactures know how many pieces of their wrappers slip out of people's hands? I know - they'd say that's not their responsibility. I'm especially upset by the TP. I don't understand why it is so hard to bring a baggie to slip it into. Is a little poo going to leach through the bag...

Missing hiker. Pinkham Notch. Search is on. (Updated with sad ending)

Initial reports spoke to multiple medical issues. To protect his privacy, news releases would not say, most likely. I wonder about mental illness being one of his issues which would explain away some strange behavior. I hope his family finds comfort soon in learning where he is. I'd be...

The Photo Below Mine is ...

That picture of us was fun to see, Tim. On Facebook there is a group sporting purple bandanas to identify each other as part of the group.
