    Mt. Whitney

I'm currently planning Whitney in (early) September, via the Mount Whitney Trail, and my friend and I never considered hiring a guide. It really looks like just a long hike that requires acclimatization, alpine start and endurance. I don't think an helmet is required... But I'll check. Our...

    Macomb, S.Dix, E. Dix & Hough. Feb. 4th

Great conditions overall, the slide up Macomb was doable with microspikes but we did avoid an icy patch by going a bit into the woods. Broken path all the way, except for the return via Lilian Brook. The water was running freely, but the crossings were easily done by rock hoping. Amazing views...

    Isolation (Completely Did Us In). Sage's 4K # 46. November 2, 2011

I did the exact same hike in 2007, and I remember how bad and wet Rocky Branch was... I can't imagine doing this with my girls -8 and 10yo btw... at night, tired, wet.... very tough indeed. Good job getting them out of there safely.

You know you are a peakbagger when

...when only your hiking friends sees you, and everybody else, including family, think you are turning into a weirdo.

    Bushwhacker News

I hate flagging for the same reasons. I agree about herd paths, but what about moose paths ? I personnaly enjoy them while bushwhacking. The ''Peakbagging Moose'' is my friend, he always knows the best way to the summit :)
