Campsites near the top of Mount Webster?

Can anyone tell me if there are good campsites near the top of Mount Webster? If so, how far down from the summit? Unless we can get a ride, we'll be coming up from the north side, not up the AT, so if the best sites are down to the south it would be nice to know how far. Thanks! Whit

    Nauman area Campsites this weekend?

Well, it looks like the weekend plans have changed again and we're probably heading to Crawford Notch. I'm wondering how full Nauman Tentsite is likely to be this weekend and what other tenting options there are nearby-- Tisdale Spring? Other spots on the AT between Webster Cliffs and Nauman...

Or.. a two night Chocorua trip

My other thought for Columbus Day is Chocorua-- again, a two night trip. I'm not familiar with the area at all, so I'm looking for ideas. I'd like to keep the pace very easy for my 7-year old--- 3 or 4 miles per day. Ideally we'd stay in tents rather than shelters, and I'd really like to have...

    Two night Baldface trip

I'd like to bring my family on a two night trip over the Baldfaces. We'll have my 7- and 9- year olds, so I think three days total would be a good pace for this. The shelter is an obvious spot to spend one night, but I'd really like to know whether there are any good places to camp along the...

Dads and Kids on the Bigelows 8/23-25

We did this trip 2 weeks ago, but I just got back recently and am getting around to posting this, my first trip report here... There were four of us: Me, and my 9 year old Eli, and Lorne and his 8 year old Chace. Eli now has 11 4000-footers and a few backpacks under his belt, but it was Chace's...

    Easy Bigelows two-night trip

I'm almost off to Rangeley, and if I can't pull together my saddleback trip the backup plan is a two night trip in the Bigelow range. I may be able to spot a car, not sure yet. It looks now like I'll have an 8-yr old kid on his first overnight as well as my more experienced 9 yr old son. So...

Campsites on AT North of Saddleback

Well, I got some great advice about geting to the AT near Orbrton or Perham streams, but I'm still wondering if anyone knows of a decent spot to camp somewhere between the Poplar ridge shelter and the summit of Saddleback. Maybe in the saddle between Saddleback Jr and the Horn... Of course what...

    Reddington Falls, AT Access

Has anyone been to Reddington Falls, near the Appalacian Trail between Saddleback and Sugarloaf? My Delorme atlas says it is a spectacular falls, with "difficult access, no marked trails." How is the road in to there? Is there a safe place to leave a car? I'll be in the area soon, and I'm...

    Tuck's trail condition this weekend?

Hi-- Does anyone know whether the Tuckerman Ravine trail is open now up the face of the ravine? I'm planning a trip this weekend and wondering what the options are. Any preferences between this trail and Lion's Head, or a preferred direction to do a loop? We'll have a couple of kids with us...

Pemi river and Bonds w/ Beginner

I'm planning a three-night trip up the Wilderness trail, hopefully up Bondcliff and maybe Bond as well. Wednesday-Saturday, late July. Two fathers, two sons 8 and 10 yrs old. The limiting factor is definitely the other father-- not in good shape, hasn't backpacked in a decade or more, etc... The...
