Rainbow Family Gathering in the Kilkennies Fourth of July

Maybe I missed something. Has no one brought up the restroom situation? 5000 people. At least two poops a day for 3 days? No need to do the math. Ok… I did. 30,000 poops!

Black Flies out in Northern Whites

Looks like my trailwork in Dixville is going to be fun. Got smart and got a room in Gorham rather than camp.

Black Flies out in Northern Whites

I guess doing trailwork in dixville notch could be hell in two weeks? Board meeting on the 12th. Want to camp for a few days. Is that a bad plan this year? Probably should get a room.

Cohos Trail Outdoor Center / Hiker Hostel survey

The Cohos Trail Founder, Kim Nilsen is not part of the VFTT community, but he wanted me to post this after I sent him a link to this thread. I hope it sheds a bit more light: Very nice to see the thread about the Cohos Trail building survey and our effort to gain information from folks who are...

Cohos Trail Outdoor Center / Hiker Hostel survey

Thanks for posting Brian. The more survey responses TCTA receives the better. The information will be incorporated into an ongoing feasibility study that is focused on a future building, its location and who might want to use it.

    Moosilauke Parking These Days

I am hoping to find information on parking availability at the Ravine Lodge. I will be headed up there tomorrow. I haven't been in that area since before the mobs arrived. I would hate to get up there and have to wander around to Glencliff in order to hike. This is for tomorrow. Maybe a Monday...

    Mollidgewock Campground In Errol

I drove through the campground a few weeks ago. I instantly decided that I would never stay there. Like Andrew said, the sites are obnoxiously close to each other and right on the access road. There is no privacy, and if someone wants to be even just a bit loud, you will hear them. I would avoid...

    Trails near Wentworth Location, Maine

I appreciate the information and suggestions. I ended up hitting the two swimming holes that Vermonster recommended (Thank you!), and spent the other time exploring and maintaining my trail southwest of Table Rock. I put in stakes near the old Balsams lift, so it should be a lot easier...

Mt Washinton Rescue - Presi Traverse No Map or Compass

“Sorry I confused the issue with respect to where I think he went wrong. I didnt have my map out …” Posting on VFTT without a map? There should be a fine for that!

    Trails near Wentworth Location, Maine

I will be maintaining a section of the Cohos Trail next week and will have some off days. I am staying just north of Wentworth Location, and since it HAS been years since I have been in that area, I am not sure what to hike in my free time. I am looking for 6-8 miles. Nothing crazy but I am in...

    Dog Rescue on Mt Washington

Reminds me of the time I watched people push a Rottweiler up the scrambles on Caps Ridge Trail. For a short bit on the start of the trail, the dog and its owners were a bit behind me. The dog kept running up to me and growling. Not cool. Bums me out when people bring a dog hiking that isn't made...

Trail Maintenance Saw Review - New Contender

Less aggressive and cheaper, similar idea: https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Purpose-Nylon-Plastic-Toilet/dp/B07MVNP2MM/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=plastic+shims&qid=1623336823&sr=8-3

Trail Maintenance Saw Review - New Contender

Those plastic wedges might be shims that are meant for outdoor applications? Sold at lumber yards, etc. I usually have a few in my garage. Very handy. The Boreal has two replacement blades. One for green wood and one for dry. Interesting.
