    Beyond Peak Capacity In NY

When I hiked Marcy (to date, my only ADK High Peak) back in August 2011, on a weekday, the parking lot was nearly full at 7 AM. Probably passed well over 100-150 people going up and down. The summit was almost as crowded as Grand Monadnock's summit can be. When we got back, the Loj parking lot...

    Baxter

I have always done dayhikes in Baxter State Park and have never made a day use parking reservation for any hike. Still got in every time, though! Arriving at the south gate at 4:30 AM always helps ;)

    Mt Marcy 4-16-16

Excellent report! I loved Marcy when I did it in August 2011. Great views, scenery, and company. Marcy Dam really stuck out in my mind, though. The campers, the views, the lake- it all added to the aura, so to speak. It is also, to date, the longest hike I've done with my Dad (14.8 mi). He'll...

Ed Hawkins finishes the Grid for 6th time!

Congrats, Ed! I'd say you definitely earned that one by doing an out and back on Lincoln Woods ;) .

    Your NE67 Finish

Interesting stories, everyone! If I can, I'm gonna do the 4-pack. Depends on who goes with me and how physically fit/accustomed to rough trails they are. Hopefully the climb up Mt. Coe isn't too rough...

    Your NE67 Finish

Two of them are in BSP- Hamlin Peak and North Brother. The other one is Spaulding Mountain. When I do Hamlin, I'll probably tack on Katahdin Baxter Peak, just 'cause  .

    The Bigelows, ME (NE4K #63 & 64)- 3/20/2016

After looking at the weather and seeing complete sunshine for the Maine High Peaks, I decided to hike the Bigelows in Maine, which I had put off for the longest time. They were #63 and 64 on the NE67. Good thing I did put it off until today- if I didn't do it now, I wouldn't have gotten the...

    Your NE67 Finish

Calling all New England 67 finishers: I hiked the Bigelows yesterday, which puts me at 64/67 on the NE67. Now I gotta start thinking about the big finish :D . I know it's gonna be in Baxter State Park, most likely on North Brother, but I have a lot more planning to do. My question(s) to you...

Longest you've driven for a hiking daytrip?

What's the longest you've driven for a hiking daytrip? I.E. driving from Boston to the Rangeley area, hiking Saddleback and the Horn, and driving back, all within 24 hours. There is a very wide variety of hikes discussed here, so the answers should be interesting  . For me: 420 miles for...

New England 67 in 1 winter season

Props to whoever has done and plans to do the 67 in one winter. I'd like to do the winter 48, but not in one winter  .

Lost Trekking Poles on Old Bridle Path- Mt. Lafayette

I lost a pair of "Thunder Bay" trekking poles while descending the Old Bridle Path on Mt. Lafayette, probably shortly before the steep climb to Agony Ridge. If you find them, please either PM me here or contact me at [email protected]. Thank you, Spencer (hiker0200)

Accessing Spaulding Mtn from Sugarloaf ski area

Thanks for the tips! If I don't do Sugarloaf & Spaulding this week, I'll probably end up doing them in true winter anyway. Good to know that I basically have the ok to leave the ski area bounds  . Fortunately, I've already done Saddleback and Saddleback Horn (via ski trails), so I won't...

Accessing Spaulding Mtn from Sugarloaf ski area

I'm currently at 60/67 on the New England 4Ks, and I'd like to add #61 and possibly 62 to my tally this week. I was considering doing Sugarloaf and Spaulding (already did Abram). Normally, I'd go in from CVR, but that approach seems like it would be a mess this time of year, or undoable at all...

    Mt. Jasper, Berlin, NH

Really interesting view of Berlin! Unfortunately, it's too far away for me to do as a stand-alone :( . Might combine it with Mt. Forist and some other places near the fish hatchery if I ever go back that way. So much to see, so little time...

    Recent Rescue on Washington

I ran into some lost hikers on Mount Agamenticus today. (Yes, the little 700 ft. hill in York, ME.) Instantly reminded me of the recent Mt. Washington rescue. Makes me genuinely scared for some of the "new generation of hikers"

    Mont Mégantic, Québec- 11/8/2015

I got my fancy new passport card on Friday (10/6) when I came home from work, so I knew what I had to do on Sunday. Hike Mont Mégantic, a 3,615 ft. monadnock in southern QC that had been on my to-do list for a very long time, but the only thing keeping me from doing was the lack of a passport...

    Rapid Stream Rd Bridges Replaced

Thread bump! On 10/31, I hiked Mt. Abram via the Mt. Abraham Trail, and I was able to drive my little Kia Rio all the way to the trailhead proper, even on that rough last .5 mile. That drive made Caribou Valley Rd look like a highway! I did get a kick out of those new bridges, though. Cool...

Mt. Abraham, ME (NE 4000 Footer #60)- 10/31/15

Every year, on or around my birthday, I always try to do a hike that stands out. Well last Saturday (10/31) was my 21st birthday, and I hadn't done anything new on the NE 67, so off to Maine I went! It was also the last day of Daylight Savings Time, so I definitely took advantage of that :cool...

A Taste of Winter on the Presidential Range- 10/18/2015

Thank you for your comments! I agree on the picture/video aspect of a trip report- anyone can whip up some words and make a trip report, but pics and video make it a hell of a lot more interesting.
