Hiked S pack yesterday and took the time to prepare with lots of bug spray, but was amazed that there were no black flies or mosquitoes. Even the dreaded eye nats were non existent. Anyone else experiencing the same? With all of the recent wet weather, I was expecting worse.

It's been a long time since I posted a trip report, but due to the recent flooding in the Dublin NH area, I wanted to give an update. The Pumpelly trail is completely passable, but is very wet with water in places that are usually very dry. Not surprising considering the recent rainfall...

Hiked up the Pumpelly trail to the Cascade Link and the blueberries are ripening up nicely. Still only 20% or so on the ridge, but they were tasty on a warm July day. Next weekend should be even better. I'll try to hit N. Pack and will report what I find, or not! :D

I saw this posted on the message board at EMS in Peterborough. A section of the Wapack just to the north of Watatic & Nutting Hill is closed due to logging. A 1.75 mile detour is shown HERE. The Wapack.org site doesn't say how long the detour will be in place.

1/12/10 Nicely packed trail, just a few icey spots. The auto road has been "groomed" by a tracked vehicle with a 6' blade. Very nice packed powder. Skiing down the road was a blast! Unfortunately, I didn't find the lost GPS.
