You are correct, it is far easier on a snowmobile. You can ride right to it (I have a few times now). It can be a popular spot at times in the winter and will get packed down enough that almost any rider could easily get there.

I was in the Rangeley area two weeks ago and drove into Saddleback to check it out on a day I wasn't hiking. Only a couple of people appeared to be in the condos. Did see one or two cars in the lot that could have been hiking. And I think there were two cars parked by the real-estate office...

Isn't good beer normally in a bottle instead of can, inevitably making it heavier to carry before leaving the bottle on the side of the trail? (Full disclosure, I'm a non-drinker and son of someone who drinks Coors Light)

Personally, I try to pick up the trash as I see it. If I say "I'll get that on the descent" I usually forget about it and don't even see it again. I won't pick up tp, tissues, band-aids, and the like for obvious health reasons. The small wrappers usually go into pocket that rarely get used...

I thought it was a great idea when I first saw Clif's "Litter Leash" on their energy jell shot packets. Making it so the part that you pull off to open it stays with the packaging. It'd be great if more companies could incorporate something like that.

NETC Trail Report from Apr 24 says... "Room for several cars in the trail head lot, but the road to it (Class VI portion of South Shaker Farm Rd) is rough, with potential for bottoming out in low-clearance cars. Drive with care. "

The summit of Mt. Monadnock with about a 2" layer of ice over everything. TPBM is wildlife you saw from the trail. (ideally, something other than a flying bird)
