    Colden Question

I'ts steep going up. I was just glad we came down Lake Arnold. I would not have wanted to go back the way we came. Make sure its a dry day. We went after a rain, and the rock was slippery. It was the only hike I couldn't wait to finish. There is a section near the top that if your afraid...

    Death Valley in March

Kevin, I don't remember the name of the town. All I know is that it was in the middle of nowhere and a bit creepy. The one thing I do remember was that there were the letters DV branded on the side of a mountain.

    Death Valley in March

Great pics. On our trip to Vegas last year April we attemped to enter the park. When we went to fill up at the last gas station for 75 mile, the price of gas was almost $4.00 a gallon so we turned back. Bummer now I wish we didn't.

    Hiking with your K9

I wanted to thank all of you for the great advice. I have learned about some new things that wouldn’t normally cross my mind like porcupines ouch. I will certainly keep all of these in mind even on my local hikes. I will admit though that after just getting home from seeing the movie “Eight...

    Hiking with your K9

I often thought that taking a dog on a long hike in the mountains was cruel. But after reading such a great trip report from Tom & Atticus, I almost wonder if I just worry to much about the dogs wellbeing. I take my dog out on local hikes for a few hours at a time and often wondered what it...

Bought a pair of Asolo boots with my 30% off thanks to Brian. Knocked off $50 and that makes me very happy. I also got an extra $20 off my next purchase, and I bought myself a Nalgene bladder for $2. It even gets better, the guy at the store said since I spent so much that he wouldn’t stamp...

3 ft of snow on Colden Trail!!!

Nice report!! I would love to see some pictures. That was my last hike up there, and to see it in snow would be cool.

    Nippletop and Dial

What a great report. You are very luck to have your kids join you. Mine are older and have no desire to go hiking with their mom it is just not cool. Maybe by the time I reach my last they may change their mind. But if I were you, I would bring them up on your last. After all that work I...

Mt Colden via Avalanche Pass 9-4-05

Tonycc, I went up the main trail. Oldsmores, I would love to go up in the fall. The mountains must really come to life, but unfortunately I have other obligations that take precedence. Silverback, It took 2 years to recover from the battle wounds I endured on that first trip before I finally...

Mt Colden via Avalanche Pass 9-4-05

This is my first post on this site, and may I say that I have been truly inspired by all of you. In August I completed Marcy, Algonquin, and Wright. Those were great hikes for someone with little experience. I only had one peak under my belt before this summer [Tabletop 2 years ago]. To...
