I climbed this 20+ years ago and vaguely recall a limited view toward the east from a small clearing near the summit, with the tower long gone. Anyone been up recently (or at least in this century)? Thanks in advance!

What is the average 'on-foot' speed through fir waves? I'm a very vague time/distance keeper of my own travels, but impressionistically, I think I progress at about 3 hours per mile (0.3 mph). This is an empirical question, thus begs data. What better source of collective wisdom than vftt...

Interesting thread. Questions: 1. vly = vlei, and both rhyme with 'fly' - right? And did we get that from the dutch? 2. I'd say that one could paddle from RAquette lake into FOR-ked (pronouncing a short vowel in the second syllable) lake. But perhaps some people would paddle from raQUETTE...

Great photos, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to puttering around on an adk slide or two, new or old, next summer. But, not going to recognize slide name based on someone else's dog's name. Just my humble opinion.
