My dog, Coal' and I are escaping Christmas to a hostel near Lake Placid. Can I get a northeastern, NY, map app for my Garmin 450 installed, say at EMS? I know it can be done over the 'net, but I am totally incompetent (there I said it and I'm glad - I feel better now).

I read that the bridge over the stream at the beginning of the trail to Bradley Pond lean-to was washed out. I have Santanoni and Couchs to finish the 46. Can the stream be waded? Any beta would be greatly appreciated.

Is there still a shuttle service for the trail? I would like to do the Long Lake To Lake Placid section this summer, but I will need transportation from the Placid trailhead to Long Lake.

Now that the dam and bridge are out, is there any way to get from one side to the other? If you come in from the Loj can you get over to do Avalanche Pass?
