Cannon Mountain via Kinsmans Ridge Trail
Date of Hike: Saturday, May 16, 2009
Trail Conditions: Bare with a few patches of snow/ice, easily avoided
Special Equipment Required: None.
Comments:
After finishing Mt Hale in the morning, it was still sunny out so I headed over to hike up Cannon. The Kinsmans Ridge was still as steep as I remember. A few patches of snow and ice at higher elevations but nothing you had to step on. The trail from the viewpoint to the summit was as muddy as it usually is but for the most part the carefully placed rocks and logs get you through OK. I hit the summit about 3:00 and the wind was really blowing. I was hanging on, on the tower to prevent it from knocking me over. To finish off a nice day hiking I beat the rain back to my car.
