Trails were what I call damp. Not nearly as wet as I expected with all the rain, but not dry either. My feet stayed dry all day. Some mud here and there but nothing that wasn't easily side stepped. The Carrigain Brook crossing took some thought and care (and maybe some luck), but I again kept my feet dry. Other crossings were all easy. Carrigain Notch out to the old shelter site is just amazing. Why have I never been here before!?
Desolation trail is all that the WMG says, and more. Met a fellow on top with an overnight pack planning to go down it and I warned him. Tucker loves this sort of thing, but even he looked back at me in a few spots as if to say "a little help here please?" Plenty of doggy water as expected.
Perfect day with zero bugs.
Tower stair treads......????
