Greenleaf Trail to Greenleaf Hut on Tuesday afternoon - I now remember why I prefer the Old Bridle Path - though a bit longer and a couple of hundred feet more in climb, it's more even in climb and a better treadway. There are the agonies / red rocks, but it's a bit easier. Greenleaf trail is in great shape all the way. GREAT!! sunset from the rocks looking west - nice silhouettes of Camels Hump, Mansfield, and the ridge of the Green Mountains.
On Wednesday, all trails up Lafayette, along the ridge over Lafayette, Lincoln, Liberty, Flume and down Osseo were in excellent shape. The col between Liberty and Flume could use a bit of brushing out.
Osseo has spectacular ladders and stone work - considering the steepness and length, this is one of the best steep routes to descend anywhere in the Whites. It would be fine to ascend, also, but if doing a loop hike, consider descending by Osseo. (By the way, do not descend via Flume Slide - if you're doing all four of the peaks on Franconia Ridge, and want to descend from Flume, return to Liberty Springs Trail or take Osseo down.)
Great views from the top - 42 hikers (incl one ten-month-old in a back pack), seven dogs seen on the hike. (I'm not counting the hundreds on the Lincoln Woods Trail that made the last mile and a half look like a sidewalk in Boston.)
