Date of Hike: 6/30/2009
Conditions: Gray, viewless, and significantly more water of the trail than 3 weeks ago. Many detours circumventing wet areas. The trail was very wet, slick, muddy, and treacherous. At times the trail seemed more like a stream. Almost constant cloud cover. During the four hour hike we had 4 shadow appearances when the sun shone for less than 30 seconds at a time. Temps were fine despite walking through clouds that were thick enough to make visibility difficult from one cairn to the next within a half mile of the summit.
Special Equipment Needed: a sense of humor and an appreciation for the fact that it wasn't raining today.
Optional: Saw no one! How often does that happen on Monadnock?
