Headed up from Pinkham to the Winter Lion's Head trail. Trail was very well packed out and easily bare-bootable to the steep section. From there crampons were a necessity. Lots of people heading up, with many turning back after the crest on the Lion's Head trail due to the high winds, cold temps, and blowing snow.
Snowshoes were not needed.
Clouds and 45 to 50 mph winds on the Alpine Garden with blowing snow making visibility about 100' with periods down to 10'. Temperature was 20° at the Alpine Garden and 10° at the summit.
Cold weather (insulation, warm clothing) and high wind gear (hardshell, goggles, balaclava, etc) a necessity.
