I'm planning to climb Owl's Head via Lincoln Brook Trail this week.

From what I read in these forums the bushwhacks don't necessarily save time this time of year because the water crossings aren't difficult. I would appreciate comments on this.

Also, what should I expect from the crossings this time of year, assuming current conditions? Can you rock hop or is it best to carry some alternative footwear for the crossings?

On Friday the 13th, Franconia Brook was almost waist deep (at the deepest spot, and I'm 5'4") and Lincoln Brook was just above my knees.........apon return to Lincoln Brook, it had dropped 2 inches. We bushwacked back to black pond after meeting up with "the hiker Ed" :) It took 40 min at a leisure pace to get to the pond. The river crossings were not as bad as crossing the mosquito infested beaver bog/stream on Lincoln brook trail just beforehand (in my opinion) :)
