Owl's Head via Lincoln Woods Trail, Black Pond Trail, bushwhack, Lincoln Brook Trail
Date of Hike: Sunday, August 9, 2009
Trail Conditions: Mostly dry trail, still some mud patches and wet areas
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Lincoln Woods Trail - boring, especially on consecutive days
Black Pond Trail - generally in pretty good shape
Lincoln Brook Trail - all three water crossings no problem
Owl's Head Path - Dead moose (maybe 50 feet below where you reach the first part of the slide) becoming very smelly, lots of flies around. We bushwhacked through some thick adjacent stuff to avoid it. Slide fairly dry.
Multiple herd paths beaten out from old summit to true summit.
Took Brutus Bushwhack down to avoid slide and dead moose - an increasingly popular option by the looks of the ferns, etc.
