Date of Hike: 3/28/09
Trail Conditions: Spring hiking conditions. Wapack clear from the Miller State Park lot up onto the ridge, then snow and melting snow with some ice. Between the two peaks, mostly packed snow with patches of ice, mud and bare ground. Snow was softer in the afternoon, esp descending South Pack.
Deepest/softest drifts were on the South Pack summit loop and descending South Pack headed north.
Special Equipment Required: Microspikes most of the day. The minimonorail between the peaks probably took a beating from the groups heading across in the afternoon.
Comments: Cloudy day, not many VFTT, but a nice day to be out. Lots of evidence of ice storm damage but trails are well-cleared.
