White Mountains - July 29 to Aug 3

My son has a soccer camp in Maine from July 29 to August 3. I'm planning several days of hiking in the White Mountains during that time. My only previous experience was two nights (Hermit Lake, then Lake of the Clouds) with my (then) 9 year old son. I've also had the pleasure of staying at Hikers' Paradise but that was for downhill skiing in the area. I am prepared to hike alone but would prefer company knowledgeable in the area. Lowe's store or Appalachia are my preferred starting points. I was thinking of at least one night in the RMC cabins/shelters but will have a tent & foul weather gear as well. If anyone is interested, please let me know.
