I heard about this event and thought I'd let all of you know about it. Now I am not able to, but I thought I'd open up this thread and maybe someone will volunteer to lead a hike (I believe Sunday night 8/26 into 8/27) to some open summit for this spectacular phenomenon.

Two moons on 27 August.
27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for.............
Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August.
It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug.. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

Did you forget to add a  or a :p or something similar to that?

Because Mars is just going to be a little red dot in the sky. The moon will be full, though, or nearly so, so still a nice night for a hike.

ETA: A link to an article about this annual chain email and a website for accurate night sky information.
