Here are the two things that have worked for me: 1.) Leukotape It's a god-send for those of us who are blister prone, and while it may not prevent all discomfort, it should prevent blistering. Definitely apply it to problem areas before heading out for a hike, preferably on clean and dry skin...

Finished on Mansfield this past October with my buddy Mike. I don't think I could have made the finish any more epic if I tried... reaching the summit ~200 miles into a northbound Long Trail thru-hike. Wouldn't change a thing! :D

Thanks everyone, it was a most excellent journey. I look forward to many more miles of hiking in my favorite places, without "needing" anything, other than the hike. ;)

I think we'll see the same thing as we did with Dry River Trail last year. Believe me, I'm itching to get that section too!

Did the loop clockwise last Thursday-Saturday (6/11-6/13), from the southern trailhead. Found the west side to be in excellent shape, well blazed with signs of recent trail-work in evidence. Stayed the first night at Bull Brook, and found ourselves inundated by black flies. All the tentsites on...

I use Mountain-Forecast frequently. I've found their forecasts to be pretty spot on, agreeing with not only the MWOBS, but the NWS point forecasts. The only issue I have, is that many lesser peaks in the Whites aren't in their database (yet), though with a little extrapolation with data from...

There's no reason that I can think of, that you wouldn't want to stay at Nesowadnehunk. I've stayed in the park three times, all there, and enjoyed the quiet immensely. I can't speak for the other campgrounds, but Nesowadnehunk is awesome. Plus, I like typing it, and saying it... Nesowadnehunk. :)

Debating two options now: Wright, Algonquin, Iroquois, and back through Avalanche Pass. Or... Sawteeth, Gothics, Armstrong, Upper and Lower Wolfjaw, from St. Huberts. Strongly leaning towards the latter.
