Interesting. Native soil tent pads. At that elevation and the general topography of the site, I find that surprising. Possibly a way to make the site less inviting for campers? I've always preferred a platform for the drainage, and shelf-like characteristics for cooking, sitting, etc. Of course...

I catalog the Great Gully as an 'ascend' trail. Would prefer to descend elsewhere such as Spur. This is a very nice route, lightly used, with real alpine feel. Though not a dare-devil by any stretch...I found the crawl space short and not daunting at all.

This childish practice takes real guts up along the tracks where (up to now) nobody was around to stop it. Why don't some of the protesting 'environmentalists' take their mooning to the summit or base of the cog where the audience would be even bigger? I think we all know the answer to that!

I disagree that the trailhead elevation/accessibility has much if anything to do with recent SAR matters. First I doubt anyone would link this week's mishap with trailhead access. The poor guy tripped near the summit. Equating that to 'easy' access is a stretch at best. Also, does anyone think...
