    Vroomans nose

Some times it is, some times it isn't. Not sure if its on a list of things to plow. The Franklington Vly State Wildlife or Management Area is usually plowed, but I don't think the Vromans Nose area is State. There isn't a lot of snow in the area, so parking along the road may not be a problem...

    Limekiln Lake Hiking/Fishing mid-October

I haven't hiked those, but have been in to West Canada Lakes, which is about 7 miles in, also hiked, carried a canoe into many of the lakes and ponds which are well worth the trips. (Most under 5m RT). And a good chance to spot a moose, otter, loon and other things. Free camping and the fishing...

Non scientificly speaking, they are fun to watch.:) How many nasty biting bugs do you think each one eats in a day?

2010: year of the deer fly?

The worst I remember in the cats. The bug racket works well, the dog waits til I zap the ones tormenting her, then bites them. I have also seen several deer running full speed thru large open fields to escape them.

    Best route to Redfield

Winter from South Meadows with skis, great to be in the middle of the lakes looking up, summer from tahawus, no crowds, no parking fee, lots to see, both get the Opal Trail, which is nice both up and down. I don't remember the Calamity trail being that bad, but then again, I don't remember alot.

    Sherril,North Dome

From the DEP parking outside Westkill Hamlet. Dry, no stream crossings, easy grade, no snow to speak of. Heart burn from eating wild leaks. Over to ND and out the ridge to the Fishermans Parking. An uneventful, enjoyable, different way to do these 2.

    Gluten Free backpacking entrees

PURE Bars, very good, they boast "Like a good mood in a wrapper" on brownies. I find these at Hannafords. And of course there is spam in a sack. There was a thread here about gluten free last winter with lots of info. I tend to make up my own meals with different ingredients, can be creative.

What's Up with all the gear along the trail?

I always look for a missing body when I spot alot of clothing or gear, We once tracked a lost injured mountain biker thru some head high CHH prickers. He had deliberatly taken something off and carefully hung it up as he dragged himself and bike down the wrong side of the mountain hoping we...

Bel Canto meets Belleayre, history Galli-Curci Road name (Catskills)

I believe the manor is still privately owned and not a part of the proposed resort. Its a great place to watch the sunset from. ;) I ate alot of pop corn watching movies at the Galli- Curci, new flixs such as Gone with the Wind, Exodus, and The Sound of Music. The last movie I saw there was a...
