    West Mill Brook road condition

I was there on Sunday. Made it across the river and to the other side of the Northway in a Forester. Water level is only a few inches. Road near the crossing was fine with loose gravel banks. Beyond the culvert, road is a little rutted and soft in spots with one big mud wallow encompassing the...

    5/11/14 Acra Point glider crash

To find this plane crash, I had help from above ... aerial images that is. I had heard that there was a plane crash near Acra point (N2617A). Had no real info on it, except the NTSB accident report. So, I started studying the aerial images (using Bing maps) on the off chance that I might spot...

Need a NEW camera.... Suggestions please!!!

I have the Olympus Tough 6000. It's rugged and waterproof alright. But the picture quality is fair at best, and that's under good outdoor light. Auto-focus is terrible (slow and hit or miss). I also used that Canon model. It takes better pictures, but it had odd form factor and no zoom. I...

The Burning, Lye Brook Wilderness, VT

This hike was with my beagle Howie. Got to the trailhead off Glen Road in Manchester, VT and started out on the Lye Brook trail. After 2.3 miles, took the side trail to Lye Brook falls. It crossed a land-slide cause by Hurricane Irene last year. Got to the falls and climbed a short path up on...

From route 73, took Zander Scott trail up. Trail is in very good condition. Just a couple of small blowdown in first mile. Very dry with just minor mud in a few places. No bugs due to stiff wind.

There is also a "school bus turnaround" sign. I don't know if school buses ever turn around there or not.

What's there to do around Saratoga Springs & Lake Moreau?

The western ridge trail (yellow markers) has the most views. There is one view point on the east ridge (moreau overlook), but it's a little overgrown. You can easily put together a loop hike from the campground.
