I'm 23. I hiked every summer until I was 15, then I only went sporadically until I started again almost 3 years ago, and have been going regularly ever since. Its tough to head out now with school and all, but I'll be done soon.

Left at 5:00 this morning, didn't make it to Franconia Notch until 10:15. It usually takes 2.5 hours. The highways from north of Boston to exit 20-21 in NH were terrible.

Head up either the Carriage Road or Gorge Brook on Christmas eve for my first winter peak of 2007-2008. Going solo but would be nice to have some others to help break trail. Hike at a moderate pace. PM or email me if anyone would be interested in joining. Hoping to start between 7 and 8...

Good call, using the tri glides is a great idea. I bought these straps, and maybe I can use the buckle that is already attached to them. I didn't even think of that. I like having the option of being able to restore everything to how it originally was.

My backpack, the MH Trance has short straps across the front for attaching skis or crampons. I want to make the straps longer so I can attach my snowshoes and snowboard. I figured I could just attach a longer strap with the same width to the strap already in place by passing it through the...

I'm looking to try the traverse this winter also, maybe we could team up. The more people the better if there is trail breaking involved, and this hike was one I was nervous about doing solo.
