    crescent moon snowshoes

does anyone have any experience with crescent moon snowshoes? i was checking out some atlas snowshoes today and these were on the same rack. they look pretty cool--both because they look cool and because the binding looks like it would be easy to operate. i've never seen them on the trails in nh...

    Cave Dog Here

Hey Cave Dog! First, congratulations on completing the challenge! Your visits to the Brown dorms made me proud to be a Brunonian--even though had I been in your shoes, visiting my old dorms would have added some distance. Second, I just wanted to say that I really appreciated what you wrote...

    Poll - Do you bushwhack?

I can't say I've done much 'whacking. Nor can I say that I'm it's biggest fan (I tend to swear and have a childhood fear of getting things in my eyes (I have wussy corneas and as a result spent many an hour in the doctor's office getting scratches examined, which has led me to pitch tiny fits of...

    I have a dream...

I've looked at Title Nine's stuff before and it always looked good...but I didn't know anyone who had worn their clothes. Now that I have confirmation that the clothes are good, I'll have to give them a go. :) And that OR Women site looks intriguing too. Thanks!

    I have a dream...

...that someday I will find the perfect pair of low rise hiking pants/shorts (useful background info: I am a girl). And now I'm taking my dream public and looking for help. Before I get heckled for worrying about "like trail fashion and stuff," I would like to make it clear that style is not...

You Just Might Be An Ultralight Backpacker If...

i find that if you tattoo a detailed topo map on your arm or leg you can save a few ounces on paper. plus no chance your map will blow away. ;)

    Mt.Cabot Trail

I agree! because then you can take the kilkenny ridge trail up and you can spend the whole hike making lame jokes about how you are going to "kill kenny" for not removing blowdowns/making you trip/etc. not that i would ever do something like that myself. :p plus it's a great hike! :)

i have to second white mountain bagel in lincoln. good bagels. great bathroom. the gas station across the street also has a good bathroom and is a good place to stock up on hiking snacks (it's also one of the few places in the country that i've found chocolate pop tarts which i highly recommend...

    Who got you started?

My boyfriend (known to all of you as Bruno) got me started hiking. When we met I was in pretty good shape but i hadn't done much hiking (except for a few camp trips that taught me never to bring your toothbrush near the latrine and that bandanas are not a good look for me). For one of our first...
