    single vs double wall tents

    Any opinions on the merits of a single wall tent vs a double wall. The lighter weight of the single wall appeals to me but I worry that the ventilation may not be enough for good ol muggy new england.

    umbrellas

    has anyone had good luck using an umbrella rather than rain gear for hiking? The idea sounds appealling but with the weather we get here in Maine, I'm questioning how practical this may be.
