    visiting Baxter

My wife and myself will be annually camping in Acadia this Oct. As a day trip, we would like to visit Baxter State Park to see Katahdin and hopefully moose. Unfortunately, my wife is not much of a hiker. Her speed is Acadia's carriage roads and not tough, rocky trails. Sometimes I can't say that...

    hiking after knee surgery

Due to a torn meniscus in my left knee, I'm going to have this scoped in mid April to hopefully correct this. This, of course, will delay my hiking plans for the spring and early summer. snowshoes

Hey everyone! I'm not trying to rush thru this beautiful early fall weather, but I'll be visiting LL Bean in Freeport in a couple of weeks on my way to Acadia for vacation (finally!) :) At Bean I'll be looking at a pair of Pathfinder snowshoes, 26'' for $119. These I'm planning on using for...

Hello fellow hikers! New member here. Could anyone tell me if the start of the Wright slide along Marcy brook is marked by cairns ? Also, is the herd path clearly defined from the brook to the summit? Any info is greatly appreciated. I have the McMartin book, but would like any additional info...
