    Finally, the 48th on Cabot - 9/25/10

What began on Lafayette as a way to bond with my then 7 year old son 1992 has come to an end 18 years later on Cabot. In the interim I introduced a somewhat reluctant friend to peak-bagging who soon surpassed me in the zeal to complete the list. I was distracted by an interest in learning to...

    Mt. Isolation advice

#47 Isolation Thanks to all for their advice and comments - I enjoyed a solo hike to Isolation yesterday, a long, slow slog on the Rocky Branch trail. Until I reached the summit I didn't see any one, so I had a lot of time to get into my hiker's zen. Of course that meant I had a long time...

    Mt. Isolation advice

ok...I hate mud any thoughts on a Glen Boulder to Isolation out-and-back hike? Is the extra elevation gain worth it if it means foregoing what appears to be a perpetual mud season?

    Mt. Isolation advice

I'm planning a loop hike: Glen Boulder to Davis to Isolation and then out via Rocky Branch. I've read that it can be confusing finding the Rocky Branch trail from the Isolation Trail (lots of comments about the abundance of herd paths, etc.) The maps look straight-forward, so I would...

Old pictures - Can you identify locations?

Cranmore Cranmore is the easiest for me to identify, as well as the entrance to Wildcat. I have vivid memories of riding that skimobile, and losing one ski along the way. I had to ski down to it on one ski. Thanks for the memories, Kurch.

My knees: My experience with patellar-femoral syndrome

Your training regimen Great thread. Your training regimen appears to be similar to what Mark Verstegen recommends (see http://www.coreperformance.com/). By following his programs off and on I've been able to hold my own knee problems at bay.

Hale Loop (Hale to Lend-a-Hand and back to car)

Last summer Kurchian asked "why post a Hale hike"? http://www.vftt.org/index-vftt.html. I think it might be the perfect recuperation hike, as it was my first of the summer season (I had been laid low since spring by a nasty case of Lyme Disease and simply didn't have the energy to hike) But my...

Welch Dickey Loop with Aaron - May 12, 2007

What fond memoried your photos evoked. My son and I hiked that loop many times when he was a little boy, and now in his twenties he still hikes with me. In fact, we plan to hike together on his day off next week.
