My quest of the 46 complete.....

The days leading up to this final peak were filled with a lot of nervous energy. For some reason I was very anxious about this final summit to complete my 46er quest. The night before we stayed in Lake Placid. It again was a night with little sleep. We woke up early so that we could begin at...

    #43 & #44

Accomplished my climb of Giant & Rocky Peak Ridge on Sunday 8/24. These were #43 and #44 for me. We got to the trail head about 7am and signed the register. Immediately we began the climb up Giant. The trail was in great shape with hardly no mud. It was a cool, but sunny morning as we began...

    4 more summits achieved...

Started out from JBL with the weather being questionable. Trails were wet and muddy from previous days of rain. Nothing that could not be dealt with though. Took the Phelps trail to our first quest of the day, Haystack. By the time we reached the ridge it was apparent that it was going to be...

Colvin & Blake from AuSable Club 7/19/08

Trail up to junction for Nippletop and Colvin was pretty good. Few muddy spots, easily averted though. Trail from Colvin to Blake was nothing but MUD, MUD, MUD. The rain made it really slippery as well. Comment: Bees seemed to have found a home on the summit of Colvin. They began swarming...

    Marshall #30

Started from the upper works parking lot at 6.15am. We encountered some light dew in the long meadow after the red and yellow trail split. After getting back into the woods and the junction with the blue trail, there was a long steady uphill section. We paused for pictures at David...

    Marshall From Upper Works

Trails were in great shape. A few slightly muddy places encountered, but easily traversed. Herd path along Herbert Brook to Marshall was in and out of stream bed. Generally, in great shape all the way to top. Great views if you searched. Bugs were present near summit and on top.

    Allen 7/4/08

Signed into register at 6:30am. Met up with Five Heads and his son. Had a great day comparing notes on various hikes. River crossing was very cold in the morning crossing, but very refreshing on the way back. Very easy to get across and follow the temporary trail. Our feet got soaked from...
