Started from the upper works parking lot at 6.15am. We encountered some light dew in the long meadow after the red and yellow trail split. After getting back into the woods and the junction with the blue trail, there was a long steady uphill section. We paused for pictures at David Henderson's monument at Calamity Pond. We reached the trail register at Flowed lands and found a trail crew just getting ready to start their days work. Seemed like a short walk to the Herbert Brook bridge crossing where we found a clearly marked rock cairn with a stick in the middle, marking the herd path to Marshall. The trail up Marshall was clear and easy to follow. It ran in and out of the brook all the way up. Near the top of the ridge the path turned left away from the brook. The climb to the top was not much further. Great views from the top with a little bit of searching. Bugs were then swarming around us, making it time to leave. Saw three separate groups on their way up as we came down. The trip was fairly easy and fast. Got great photos of Colden, Iroquois, and Algonquin from Flowed lands on way out. All and all a great hiking day. It became a little too warm by the end, but still a pleasant hike.
